The New York Giants ran out with a 13-10 win at Wembley Stadium, and although the English weather conspired against them, the Giants say that they would return to London and play here any day.

“The atmosphere was phenomenal, it was great,” said defensive end Michael Strahan. “Honestly, it was like being at home, begin at a home game. The crowd is impartial. They are going to cheer for a great player, a great hit. They are just excited to be there.

“It was a lot better atmosphere than I anticipated, for us as players we had a great time. We are not glad that it was close at the end, but we are glad that the fans stayed an enjoyed it.”

Quarterback Eli Manning, who scored the Giants only touchdown, was excited to have made history by scoring the first touchdown of the Bridgestone International Series.

“The British fans were great. I hope that the NFL continues to play games here,” said Manning. “The players and I had a good time in London, and would recommend playing here to any team.”

“The stadium is beautiful,” added head coach Tom Coughlin. “It’s a wonderful facility and our guys were very proud to be here.”

The Dolphins, meanwhile, will return to South Florida to their bye week nursing an 0-8 record. Despite the loss the Miami players considered playing in London an overwhelmingly positive experience.

“Seeing a big atmosphere like this is a great experience for the young guys,” said Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter. “This really was like it is in the play-offs or even the Super Bowl. We usually play in front of 60,000 or 70,000 spectators, but playing in front of almost 90,000 people is great and something you are looking forward to.”

Tight end Justin Peelle noted that the crowd at Wembley got behind the Dolphins despite their troubled season, saying: “We felt like the home team. I think we had more support that the Giants. They are a historical franchise and New York is a very popular city all over the world, but the London fans really made us feel at home today.”

“I loved playing at Wembley Stadium,” said Miami cornerback Will Allen. “It made me feel a lot like I was a gladiator.”

Wembley also saw the first touchdown in the career of Miami rookie receiver Ted Ginn Jr.

“It was a great feeling for me, especially in such a significant game,” said the first round draft pick. “There’s a little bit of history. I hope this is a significant day for me and for the rest of the season. I just hope we managed to give the fans a great day. It is great to come so far and still have fans cheering us on.”

Head coach Cam Cameron will return to Miami with a bye week to try to get his first win as an NFL head coach but will also go home with fond memories of his visit to London.

“I’d like to thank everybody here in the UK,” said Cameron. “I want to extend to you a heart-warmth thanks from the Miami Dolphins. I can’t imagine a game being put together better than this. The hospitality is like none I have ever seen.”
